The Worm Phobia “One Minute Wonder”

I have a client who was molested as a child by a family member. This trauma was compounded by the fact that upon telling her mother, she was told not to tell her father for fear he would kill the molester. Nothing was done to try to remedy the trauma that my client experienced, so she carried it with her for decades.

One manifestation of this trauma came in the form of regular nightmares about worms, and an intense fear of worms. My client could not even view photos or videos of worms without a great deal of discomfort. The presence of a worm was terrifying for her.

At some point during her life, she made the connection between her worm phobia and the molestation (it is unclear how she made this connection, but it was absolutely right on target). So, ONE ROUND of tapping removed this intense worm phobia. My client reported no more worm nightmares, and the ability to look at photos and videos of worms without discomfort.

This is called a “One Minute Wonder” in EFT circles. It doesn’t happen all the time, but once in a while, one round of tapping will have this kind of dramatic effect. Typically, it takes more rounds of tapping to get to the root of a problem, but in this case, since the client had already made the association between the worm phobia and the specific traumatic event that had caused it, this step was not performed by the practitioner. It is more typical that a client does not see the connection, but the practitioner draws it out through “peeling the onion” and tapping on other events that became related through associations the client made in her own body subconsciously.

Had any part of the worm phobia returned later, this would indicate that more work needed to be done in other areas that were now “exposed” by the initial trauma being removed.

EFT and an attempted military coup

I can’t very well post to this blog without mentioning the “attempted” military coup that happened here, today, in Ecuador. Apparently, President Correa made an announcement about reducing the benefits of the Ecuadorian National Police and military. They didn’t like that.

He attempted to talk with them, publicly, but he was heckled and called a liar. Tear gas was used, and it was reported that he was “detained” or “held hostage” (depending on whom you ask)…but government officials deny this. For videos go here: http://www.latinamericatraveler.com/latin_america_news.htm

So what does this have to do with EFT? Well, I can’t help but think about how much different this world would be if enough people tapped about a situation. Instead of starting wars, getting angry, yelling at people, or otherwise inciting violence, why not tap about the problem? (I know, you’re hearing, “Can’t we all just get along?” reverberating around in your skull, right?) But seriously, we COULD all get along, if we all knew EFT!

Upon pondering this conundrum, I decided to start an online community (on Facebook) called The EFT Collective Consciousness Project. It’s just a place where anyone connected with EFT in any way can share and read stories of how everyone is impacting the world with EFT. We can motivate each other, and find strength in numbers. With a little push toward “collective consciousness,” we might just affect REAL CHANGE (for the BETTER) on this planet. Heck, we might even save the world. EFT for emergencies

Up until last week, in my five years of EFT experience, I had yet to tap during an emergency situation. Unfortunately, I was given that opportunity on Friday evening, when I chopped my thumb-tip off while preparing salad for dinner.

At first I tapped for the shock, because I didn’t really know what to do next. I looked for the piece, to see if it was large enough to warrant trying to save it for possible reattachment. However, the need for stopping the bleeding was greater, so, with my father-in-law’s help, we dealt with the more pressing issue at hand.

After tapping for shock, with complete calmness, I started tapping about stopping the bleeding (it took a few rounds, but it worked), and the pain. I had very little pain during the whole ordeal. I did have some throbbing, but wasn’t annoyed by it enough to think about tapping about it.

After my thumb was bandaged up, it was almost pain-free, and I saw no evidence of bleeding! Thank you, EFT! However, while getting into bed that night, I bumped the wound right square on, and it started bleeding profusely (dripping onto the floor). I ran to the bathroom to get some tissue, then tapped one round for it to stop bleeding – and it did! I tapped a round for the pain, and went back to bed. All was well.

Two days later, I removed the bandages and my thumb looked really good! I credit EFT and the great homeopathic salves and remedies I used. As it continues to heal nicely…and virtually pain free…I have great confidence that my thumb will return to its original shape and size. I’m tapping about that, too.
